Bridge Beams watercolor is going to be Don's representation in the American Watercolor Society Annual  in spring 2010 in New York. Donald is one of the jurors deciding on the prizes. His interest in bridges goes back to Chicago when he photographed and painted some of those Chicago River bridges under construction. Donald recalls: "In those days the orange paint (called red lead) was used as a primer on steel structures and made a dazzling effect..." The bridge in the painting is based on the Cape Cod Canal structures when they were being repaired and repainted.
